Welcome to Splash!
Swimming is for everyone, and we built Splash so every swimmer can learn in a way that fits them.
Since 2019, Splash Aquatics has been teaching swimmers of all ages and abilities across the Greater Toronto Area. We are a neurodiverse affirming swim school, which shapes everything we do. This page is a quick guide for new families: who we are, how we teach, and how to get started.
What "neurodiverse affirming" means to us
It means we see autistic swimmers, swimmers with ADHD, and swimmers with sensory processing differences as they are: capable learners who deserve a place to thrive. We focus on strengths, effort and joy, not on fixing anything. We go at the swimmer's pace, we take sensory comfort seriously, and we celebrate every step, from a first splash to a first back float.
Everyone belongs in the water, and that includes neurotypical swimmers and adults too.
How we teach
Every swimmer has their own program. We don't use fixed levels. Each swimmer works on their own set of skills, and moves on when they're ready, not when a calendar says so.
1:1 lessons are at the heart of what we do. One-on-one lessons give a swimmer an instructor's full attention, so we can adapt the pace, the cues and the environment to them. Small group lessons are also available, and swimmers in a group still work on their own individual skills.
Our instructors come first. Your swimmer's instructor is the heart of the lesson. They'll get to know your swimmer, follow their lead, and tell you what they're working on and why. [Add one line about instructor training and qualifications.]
What to expect at your first lesson
- Arrival: Your instructor will welcome you, and your location page has parking and arrival details.
- Caregivers: A parent or caregiver stays on the premises for the whole lesson.
- The lesson: Lessons are 40 minutes. Your instructor will start with what feels comfortable and build from there. There's no pressure to do anything before your swimmer is ready.
- Afterwards: Your instructor will share how it went and what's next.

Looking for OAP-eligible swim lessons?
We offer Ontario Autism Program (OAP)-eligible swim programming at our Brampton location, in partnership with a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA). OAP sessions are arranged by email rather than through the portal. Email info@splashaquatics.ca and we'll walk you through it.

What to expect from this blog
Our blog is written by our instructors and team. Each month we'll focus on one swim skill: what it is, why we teach it, and how you can support it at home. We'll also share behind-the-scenes stories, tips for new swimmers, and answers to the questions we hear most.
We're starting with the skill every swimmer starts with: Why We Start With Bubbles.
We're glad you're here.
